Lorelei’s Specifications:

Design: Lorelei is a Hybrid design. She has a round-bilge S&S (Sparkman and Stephens) hull with a Bruce Roberts cruising deck layout and rig. Her interior layout is a custom deign with an owners stateroom and only 1 additional bedroom.

 This design is a little different from the conventional Roberts Yachts. With the Sparkman & Stephens (S&S) hull design, they are a faster-than-average passagemaker, the superstructure is a lot sleeker and they have a generous rig and sail plan.

Over 700 of this design has been made worldwide to date and are popular as a charter vessel or a large volume cruiser for a family or 2 to 4 couples.

For a single couple it is generally considered to be too large but we cope pretty well most of the time. To date we are still the largest sailing cruising monohull we have encountered that is full time international sailing with just 2 people on board.

This is the standard sail plan and layout.
However Lorelei has a different sail plan and internal layout with only berths for 2 couples.

SAIL PLAN AND RIG

With our Multihull background, we went well away from the standard monohull sail plan and added a set of high-roached main and mizzen sails. It's a little radical and they overlap the back-stays but the performance difference is incredible. Lorelei sails upwind better, heels less, performs fantastically in equatorial light winds and the reefing points are squarer to the boom. All in all it's a vast improvement and combined with our 140% Genoa, 2 working Head-sails and 2 Asymmetrical Spinnakers (in socks), we have a really versatile sail plan.   
Doyle sails in The Whitsundays made all the sails for us - and they are fantastic!!!
